Perceiving The Infinite

Psychic experiences are a natural part of our everyday lives. A clairsentient, or clear feeling, individual is able to sense physical, emotional, and spiritual energy in the form of seemingly unearthly scents, touches, and movements. Each of these psychic abilities can manifest themselves within us voluntarily or involuntarily. It is natural for us to have these abilities; we need only practice.

Developing your psychic talents is a matter of releasing your fear of seeing, hearing, or feeling inexplicable or disquieting stimulus. How to Recognize PISCES

If you should happen to see a Pisces behind a teller's cage, or sitting at a bank president's desk, you'll be viewing a rare kind of fish. Very few of these people can stand being confined for long in one place. You'll have better luck if you wander into a spiritual seance, visit an art gallery, walk through a convent or a monastery, attend a concert or catch a floor show in a nightclub. You might check an Authors League meeting, drop backstage after a play, or try some sunbathing on a yacht

The chances are you'll come up with a pretty good catch in any of those streams of life. The more creative and artistic, the more leisurely and esoteric the surroundings, the more fish you'll find. The Astrology of Attraction

The "Love Lorn" make good marketing targets especially in astrological "circles". Most Astrological Web sites and magazines are dedicated to those of you tormented by Cupid's arrow with compatibility reports and even special "Love Horoscopes" aimed to feed the addiction. Thousands of letters fill advice columns asking "Does he/she love me?"; "Should I stay or leave him/her?", "Are we Soul mates?" and on and on it goes. I'm hardly a cynic about that feeling of bliss, or of sharing life with another person but this obsession about love needs some illumination.

Though I barely have my finger on the light switch I do think it's important to pose some points to ponder. Keep your mind open as you read on because the Shadow in us is a hard demon to confront, which is, after all, why falling in love is racked with so much discomfort. It's going to take a book to cover all that so for the sake of time and space I'll go right to the most damaging relational concept, Soulmates!

Here we are presented with a concept that tries to give us reasons for having a powerful attraction based on events that are not verifiable. But that's hardly the problem. The true damage with the Soulmate concept is that you are likely to discard the real reason for the attraction, which is usually less than glamorous. You aren't finding a lost love that exists outside of you, you are finding a lost part of yourself that the other person reflects back to you; that is why they seem so familiar and perhaps why the Soulmate concept is so readily accepted.

It would serve you to think of everyone as your Soulmate, then you would be more likely to respect all feelings that emerged in you, own them and stop making your relationship so special that you would die without it. It was your subconscious mind that selected the person in the first place, that's why you might feel that they are a God, or Goddess while the rest of us yawn; they fit YOUR projection, the part of you that you can't see.

I understand that your attractions are likely a key that unlocks the darker part of your psyche. If you try to remember this point you will have a much greater chance of getting some valuable understanding about yourself having entered the relationship regardless if they "killed you in a past life" or your souls were a "twin flame" or any other aggrandized fairy-tale that we can paint. Based on your current life, you will draw to you the perfect person or "hook" to reflect components long buried within you that are ready to be seen and embraced.

I deeply trust the nature of the subconscious mind, which Carl Jung described as ' your best friend who can only speak to you in symbols and who tirelessly knocks at the door of your life offering hints and pictures that guide you to wholeness.' Those symbols are around us at every moment, not just in our dreams but also in our everyday life. Symbols acting as omens surround us constantly and it's our job to bring them into consciousness, to ask “Why is this in front of me?" In that very moment of asking we have regained a certain amount of control in our lives, ousted ourselves from a victimized mentality and have begun acknowledging that we are not alone and that everything in front of us, serves us.

The relationships that we draw towards us are part of that process. They are symbols placed before us to direct our attention to our most hidden fears. Perhaps it's not love at all; perhaps we see a wound in that person that we know we can bandage, which assures us that we won't be abandoned; something our subconscious notices in one fleeting glance. Perhaps our attraction is an opportunity to win back self-love because we picked someone who like our Father, is a perfect fit but guaranteed to reject us. The point is, you can discard all the old judgments like, "I have intimacy issues" or " I was not meant to have a partner" in lieu of an understanding that everything that enters your life is brought to you lovingly from a higher place to assist you in loving yourself.

Where does astrology fit into all of this? Through the astrological chart you can likely see what part of your psyche the person is illuminating. We like to use the birth chart as a map to your life, each of the ten planets (and asteroids) paints a picture, like musical notes on a score sheet. Some tones are easier to listen to if others are singing them or, analogies aside, we have an easier time letting others act out our Mars if we aren't comfortable with our aggressive side or letting them "do" our Venus if we aren't comfortable with our more feminine side.

Astrology can tell you what you can learn from another person by combining the charts but if I told you not to enter a relationship that you were attracted to because of the difficulties that you may encounter, well I might as well tell you not to grow, not to trust your higher mind and that serves no one.

In conclusion, when you "fall in love" remind yourself that you have created a special opportunity to grow. Honor the part of you that created the "symbol" in front of you and accept or reject the challenge consciously. Your subconscious mind is tireless in bringing you what you need to grow, so if you aren't ready for the challenge just say, "No." If you are ready, take a moment each day to listen more closely to the magic around you, trust your symbols and listen to your dreams.

Making It Happen

There are times in our lives when all the signs seem to be pointing us in a particular direction. Our thoughts and dreams are echoed in the songs and stories we hear and the media we see. Maybe the message we are getting from the universe doesn’t even make sense in the “real” world, but somewhere inside, these urges feel right. Maybe you feel you are being told to move to a new city although your life where you are is just fine. Or maybe you feel the desire to pursue a new direction in your career when it never really interested you before. When we spend time getting in touch with our higher selves, our intuition sends us directives to lead us to become our best and most fulfilled selves. A sense of peace will come over us, because we know that any questions will no longer make us wonder if our dreams are possible, but how to make them happen. Instead of deterring us from our goal, these questions only serve to clarify our focus to move us forward. We need not throw caution to the wind to follow our dream. The positive shift in our energy affects everything around us. Like a rush of water, it goes ahead to clear debris from our path so that we can go forward. Our new attitude also attracts likeminded people. Sometimes even the most unlikely angels arrive to help us along our way with the information and support we need.

Secondary progressions and solar arc directions are symbolic timing methods used by most astrologers. My personal preference is the use of solar arc directions where all the planets and points in the chart move approximately a degree each year in accordance to the motion of the natal Sun. It is a very accurate timing method and I run a directed chart for every consultation.

Planetary returns are calculated for the exact moment that the Sun, Moon or planet returns to it’s natal degree. This gives us a chart as an overview for the period of time it takes to make the next return. The Sun will give us our year ahead, while the moon will give us a view of the coming month. These are all valuable tools in an astrologer’s predictive kit.

Predictive astrology is a powerful tool for coping with our challenging cycles and maximizing the potential for our positive transits. I call this part of the consultation “what’s happening now and how long is it going to last!” A predictive consultation a couple of times a year can keep you on track and on your game.

You've got to talk!

Sometimes, while men are loathe to blabber on about feelings and women seem to like to "talk" all the time (the phrase "honey we need to talk" comes to mind), when what a woman has to say may threaten the balance or cause a shift of any significance in her relationship, she'll clam up. We get nervous that by asking for what we want or need we're going to lose the man we love if what we say doesn't jive with him. Likewise, men tend to fear showing weakness – which they sometimes confuse with showing emotion – because they want their woman to feel safe. What's the end result of all this? Discontentment and resentment. The solution is simple: you've got to talk!

Before all the men out there go running for the hills, I'm not implying that you need to spend hours on the couch belaboring the way you felt last Tuesday when she snapped at you for not doing the dishes or hashing out your emotional growth from ages twelve to fourteen. I'm referring to the big things that affect your day to day and your future, individually and as a pair: hopes, dreams, fears, triggers. In short, if one person in a couple doesn't know how the other person is feeling or what their goals are, then there is no way that either person can expect to give – or get – what they need or want, never mind support in achieving goals or weathering tough times.

Learn the art of fighting
Choose your battles wisely – everything is not worth fighting for and if you let things escalate over minutia, the important issues won't hold the gravitas they deserve.

If things do get heated, never say anything intentionally cruel – you won't be able to take it back afterward. Learn to talk before things get to this stage (see previous).

Perhaps most importantly, since arguing sometimes is inevitable, know how to say you're sorry. The ability to see when you've been wrong – or even if you haven't been, when you've let something get the best of you – is invaluable. Think about it. A sincere apology goes a long way. Just remember it the next time you're experiencing similar feelings. And try to talk before things get that far!

Do things together... the couch doesn't count!
The couple that plays together, stays together. This doesn't mean you have to do everything as a team. In fact, individual activities and hanging out with friends are just as important as couple time if a relationship is to be successful. But that's another story (see below), and there's a balance.

What's vital in this instance is that as a couple, you spend time together doing things you both enjoy. This keeps things firey, gives you a shared ritual and sustains you when things are tough.

Of course, sex is an activity – and a super important one in any romantic relationship (note: physical contact is another key to success). But this connection has got to go beyond the bedroom. There's got to be some ground where you can be friends and moreover, partners in crime!

Don't forget who you are!
It's easy when we get into relationships to forget who we used to be, the things we liked to do, how we used to spend our time. But one of the most vital elements of a working partnership is that you maintain your individuality as part of a pair.

Think about this logically: in order to create one whole, you need two complete halves... otherwise, one or the other of you (most often both) is going to feel that something is missing.

No one person can be all things to you. What you do with your girlfriends cannot necessarily be what you do with your mate. But it's not necessary, and in fact, can be detrimental if you make your lover your everything. Identify the areas that are important to you – and know when to include him and when to go it alone or with someone else who's a part of your life!

Accept change.
Change is going to happen; it's a part of existence. This is why it's so very important that you genuinely like the person with whom you have settled down. It's not necessary that you like every single thing about them (in fact, that's probably impossible), but when it comes to the big things, you've got to want to encourage them. You've got to respect them. You've got to share in their wants, appreciate your differences and perhaps most importantly, you've got to show you care.

While the sparks may dwindle or at least periodically rise and fall as the years wear on, always show your partner affection. A kiss, a touch, a sweet word in the middle of a crowded room. If that's your stance, these do's and don'ts of office romance might alter your outlook and help you see that love can conquer even the most uptight of all office spaces.

Office Dating Do's:

* Do take the practical approach to a potential attraction towards a co-worker. Make sure to review the policies of your employer before making a move. In tribal cultures, the elderly play an important role. They are the keepers of the tribe's memories and the holders of wisdom. As such, the elderly are honored and respected members of tribes. In many modern cultures, however, this is often not the case. Many elderly people say that they feel ignored, left out, and disrespected. This is a sad commentary on modernization, but it doesn't have to be this way. We can change this situation by taking the time to examine our attitudes about the elderly and taking action.

Modern societies tend to be obsessed with the ideas of newness, youth, and progress. Scientific studies tell us how to do everything - from the way we should raise our kids to what we need to eat for breakfast. As a result, the wisdom that is passed down from older generations is often disregarded. Of course, grandparents and retired persons have more than information to offer the world. Their maturity and experience allows for a larger perspective of life, and we can learn a lot from talking to elderly people. It's a shame that society doesn't do more to allow our older population to continue to feel productive for the rest of their lives, but you can help to make change. Perhaps you could help facilitate a mentorship program that would allow children to be tutored by the elderly in retirement homes. The elderly make wonderful storytellers, and creating programs where they could share their real life experiences with others is another way to educate and inspire other genera! tions.

Take stock of your relationships with the elderly population. Maybe you don't really listen to them because you hold the belief that their time has passed and they are too old to understand what you are going through. You may even realize that you don't have any relationships with older people. Try to understand why and how our cultural perception of the elderly influences the way you perceive them. Look around you and reach out to someone who is elderly - even if you are just saying hello and making small talk. Resolve to be more aware of the elderly. They are our mentors, wise folk, and the pioneers that came before us and paved the way for our future.

Change your awareness, transform your life!

It’s human nature to inadvertently develop habits. From biting your nails to tapping your toes, everyone has idiosyncrasies, for better and for worse. So, it follows that we also develop thought habits -- or routine ways of thinking about ourselves and the world around us, some good and some bad. The problem, obviously, comes with the bad ones. Unhealthy thought habits cause us to perceive things in a twisted and often incorrect way. To change these detrimental ways of thinking, we must first acknowledge their roots: our unhealthy beliefs.

Unlike thoughts, which make themselves known via the mind’s inner-speak, our beliefs reign silent. Belief, in this context, is a conviction of the truth of a statement or the reality of a phenomenon. While we sometimes confuse the idea of a belief system with faith in god or the universe, the scope of our belief systems goes much further than our views of spirituality. Belief is not usually informed by thought, nor does it always require the use of logic or reason. Early on, our beliefs are reactionary. Consider:

Some individuals actually believe one race of people is superior to all others, and no matter how many rational arguments one throws at them to disprove their position, they will continue to believe this. Likewise, a child might grow up believing himself or herself unintelligent because of an abusive parent or teacher. Just as common, an attractive and gifted young woman might believe she’s fat, ugly and worthless because she doesn’t resemble a rail-thin fashion model.

Lucky for all of us, beliefs can change. Like everything else in life, they’re informed by your perception. That said, making the shift isn’t always easy.

While adopting a belief does not always require deep thought, changing it does. Deep-seated beliefs about who we are and how we function in the world shape the way we think so much that we don’t realize they’re the cause of the thoughts in the first place! But the thought/belief influence works both ways.

The way we think can shape what we believe – even if it’s forced at first. If we think deeply about our beliefs, we can begin to see them clearly and understand how they direct our thoughts and our lives. Combining this awareness with reflection, we can begin to replace the things that aren’t beneficial with healthier, more wholesome beliefs and thought patterns.

After all, just as beliefs lead to thoughts, thoughts lead to actions. Eventually, by using your thoughts to shift your beliefs, your behavior will change accordingly… and you will get the results you desire.

The next time you find yourself thinking “I can’t do that,” consider what makes you think that way. Is it that you believe yourself incapable? Well then, set out to prove yourself wrong! The little engine that climbed the hill despite seemingly insurmountable odds (and the doubt of all those around him) succeeded for a reason – because he thought he could! Had the little engine said instead “I think I can’t, I think I can’t!” the story would have ended very differently.

Changing your awareness happens only with dedication, hard work and the healthy belief that you can do it! The process of examining difficult thoughts, and aspects of one’s personality and life that might not be easy to face, requires a great deal of courage. But you can do it – if you think you can!
